This is actually a blooming shrub that grows low to the ground. It's not quite in full bloom yet, but is a pretty plant. Although it's all over the forest, the blooming one was found in the Meadow #1 again. (Berberis repens) MORE Late season "grapes". |

This flower is geting ready to bloom all over the forest floor nearby. This early specimen was found in Meadow #1. Male and Female parts are on different plants. This is the female variety. The male has long clusters of dangling anthers. (Thalictrum occidentale) Seed Pods |

Some variety of Stonecrop with succulent leaves nestled in a crevase of a rock near the Idaho/Montana border, about 6 miles from the RV Park. Makes a beautiful display with the lichen. |

An ususual (all green) tall plant found in Red Rock Lakes Nat'l Wildlife Refuge is just starting to bloom (within the last week). It's not common directly near the RV Park. |

Although not at the RV Park, this is a new bloomer found at the Red Rock Lakes Wildlife Refuge. It's about the same altitude as the RV Park. (6500') |
White Mule Ears |

A lull in the wildflower blooming has been broken with the appearance of the White Mule Ears. Soon the meadow across from the RV Park will be covered with them. This is one of the first here. (Wyethia helianthoides) MORE.. |

Serviceberry is a favorite food of many birds and animals. Grows on a woody shrub and found first in meadow #1. |

The Larkspurs are now blooming all over, both Meadow #1 and across from the RV Park, and as far out as Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. (Delphinium bicolor) MORE |
Sticky Geranium |

Although this will be all over the place soon, this is the first Geranium bloom in the area that I've seen. In the ditch on Red Rock Road just west of the RV Park. By June 23rd they are still not blooming much. They stay around till September. (Geranium viscosissimum) Sticky Geranium Bud. |

This beautiful flower has just started to bloom at the base of Henry's Lake South Access Road, before the cattle guard, about a mile from the RV Park along the road. (Camas is a quamash). A very beautiful rarity around here, only 4 little plants so far in the forest. Very hard to spot because they are so sparse and small (see comparison to dime here.) MORE Don't pick this unless you want to destroy it for the future (it has a shallow blub and is very delicate and rare here. |
